Our 2008 programs are listed below.

Chemistry of Colours (Years 7-10)
Students will explore the chemistry of coloured things by looking at flat-screen TVs, fluorescent and phosphorescent dyes, photography and red-coloured particles of gold.

Duration 1.5 hrs, maximum of 30 students

Energy Transformed (Years 7-10)
In this demonstration show, chemical reactions that explode, glow, pop, sing, move and chill are used to show ways that chemical energy can be transformed into other forms.

Duration: 1 hr, maximum of 60 students

The Periodic Table (Years 9-11)
This hands-on trip around the periodic table will give students a chance to manipulate elements, explore their properties and examine the patterns and trends in the table. The year 11 version of this program is particularly suited to unit one of the VCE chemistry study design.

Duration 1.5 hrs, maximum of 30 students

What’s in That? (Years 9-10)
Test, smell, see and analyse the molecules of everyday life. This program features the multimedia 3-D ‘What’s in That?’ unit which takes students into the molecular activity at a party, alongside hands-on experiments that allow students to explore these molecules in depth.

Duration 1.5 hrs, maximum of 30 students

Analytical Instruments (Year 12)
Students will perform analytical excercises using either HPLC, Gas Chromatography, UV/vis Spectrophotometry and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. The analysis is followed by a tour of other modern chemical instruments.

Bookings are closed for 2008. Information about the 2009 program will be available in term 4, 2008.

Duration 3 hours
Cost $23 per student
